This role is to lead data engineering capability. This might be your first leadership type role, but with confidence, experience and willingness, we can offer you a path to leadership, and head of function.

The role

• Is hands-on in the engineering as well as leadership of decision making, the team and the future direction.
• Optimise data pipelines, the current data warehousing, availability and quality of data for colleagues and customers.
• Design and deliver future data solutions for new and existing clients.
• Lead a small team of 3 engineers, setting direction, allocating work, priorities and deadlines
• You will have lots of help of course, from management, data engineering colleagues and the wider technology team, but this is an opportunity to play the lead role in transitioning to a new tech stack and then onto ML / AI solutions.

The current tech stack includes SQL, Postgresql DB and in time (months) you will move the business on to newer technology utilising cloud datalake and functionality.

We are looking for

• Experience and skills in data engineering, ideally from more than one company, with some lessons learned in organisations using different technologies for packaging data for internal reporting, as well as customer reporting and solutions (AI and ML solutions)
• It will be very helpful if you have been lead/senior/principal engineer in role if not title.
• This is a hands-on role too so experience in data engineering, warehousing, datalakes, cloud tech, SQL and noSQL, APIs and knowledge of microservice architectures and modern SDLC methods and technologies
